Oncology Massage

| $350This foundation course will cover cancer related pathology, history of treatments, types of treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, treatment side effects, massage contraindications, and precautions.
The benefits of massage and session adaptations for the patient with cancer are discussed. Breast surgeries that treat cancer and lymphedema be will be discussed. Draping and positional challenges will be addressed, with solutions.
Community education and marketing strategies will be discussed. Students will learn to design a massage treatment plan based on the presentation of the patient; whether in active cancer treatment, in the advanced stages or years later in survivorship. Instructor will also arrange to have cancer patients come in for demonstration and sharing of their experiences.
Prerequisite: Massage Therapist or Bodyworker, or Student Massage Therapist or Bodyworker. Open to other healthcare professionals.
